Nursing Theory
Submitted by Jennifer Lanouette, AHIP, Ida S. Charlton Medical Library, Charlton Memorial Hospital, Fall River, MA; edited by Lynne M. Fox, AHIP
While students may regard the topic of nursing theory with apprehension, librarians need to be comfortable with resources that address the subject because it is a perennial favorite among nursing school faculty. Because of the proliferation of nursing theories and theorists in recent years, information seekers should begin their search at general sites (such as those listed here) and then narrow down to more specific searches using theorists’ names (e.g., Jean Watson) or theory names (e.g., “Theory of Human Caring”) as keywords.
